Commerce & Industry
The primary area of employment for CIMA members offering a diverse and varied world of commercial and industrial activity creates an unlimited array of opportunities and specialisations within finance. You will have the opportunity to be able to work for leading household brand names through to small entrepreneurial businesses.
The roles available to you are varied and but will primarily range from commercial, analytical, operational and project focused across many sectors. Although certain career paths in specific or related sectors are the norm, most skills are transferable within commerce & industry creating a versatile CV and career.
CIMA members have a vast array of opportunities in all of the following sectors: media, advertising, energy, natural resources, FMCG, retail, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, professional services, publishing, technology, construction, manufacturing and property.
Banking & Financial Services
Banking and financial services offer a challenging and dynamic environment. There are a variety of opportunities available for CIMA members in banking with many roles that you simply will not find in other industries.
From the deal rooms of the investment banks to financial control or planning for new business, banking and financial services will offer the right role for you. London is the epicentre of the financial world and a career in banking will equip you with an enviable skill-set for the future.
Sub sectors include; investment banking, commercial banking, retail banking, insurance, asset management, investment management, brokers, and hedge funds.
Public Sector & Not for Profit
The Public Sector is currently facing its most significant period of uncertainty in recent years. Budgetary constraints, re-organisations and an impending general election have, and will continue, to effect recruitment volumes across the sector.
Factors including work life balance, benefits and job security have been strong considerations when deciding to move into a role with the Public Sector.
Not-for-Profit is an area people move into as they feel they can make a difference or work within an organisation they feel passionate about. An increasingly popular sector NFP is becoming more commercial in its approach and can provide similar career opportunities to those within the commercial markets.
Good candidates with Not-for-Profit experience or those from a commercial background are very much sort after within the NFP sectors.
Sectors within PS and NFP include; Education, Housing Associations, Local Government, Central Government, NHS, Charities, Associations, and Arts & Heritage.
