To deliver accurate, timely and relevant financial information to the AkzoNobel Corporate reporting team, ensuring application of corporate and local accounting policies. Deliver all local legal requirements for reporting, including tax information & statutory accounts. Successfully managing relationships with the shared service centre to deliver these requirements.

CONTENT OF POSITION:

  • Key Deliverables/Projects:
  • Ensure oversight of provisions / general journals / accruals posted by shared service centre, to ensure P&L and Balance sheet are accurate.
  • Ensure month end processes are completed successfully and on-time, reviewing for completeness in SAP FI/PCA/Hyperion/COPA & Trial Balance
  • Review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, incl Bank, to ensure integrity of financial information
  • Review of all corporate reporting requirement, including A-Forms, Formsets & ANCORE, for completeness prior to submission to corporate
  • Review hedging information provided to corporate treasury, revaluations
  • Produce annual tax computation information (with input from shared service centre)
  • Create monthly tax reporting, including VAT, EC Sales Listing, Intrastat, National Statistics (with input from shared service centre)
  • Produce statutory accounts information / full accounts (dependant on legal entity), working with shared service centre to deliver the require output
  • Ensure SAP changes are fully tested through regression testing
  • Produce complex/high judgement journals
  • Provide technical accounting expertise to the UK business, inputting into key decisions
  • Capture key changes in organisation & ensure shared service centre operating procedures reflect latest practices & contacts

Experience & Educational Requirements:

  • ACA/CIMA with 1+ years post qualified experience in industry preferred (or equivalent)
  • Experience of reporting in a group environment, including exposure to statutory accounts and tax (direct & indirect), with strong IFRS knowledge
  • Experience of dealing with corporate requests and requirements
  • Knowledge and experience of SAP & Hyperion preferred

  • Excellent excel analytical skills
  • Can present financial data in a credible manner
  • Recognised as being reliable and able to complete assignments on time in full

  • Tenaciously finds way of getting around obstacles

Capabilities:

  • Understands accounting policies & principles
  • Understands budgeting / forecasting processes and principles and has delivered for area of responsibility
  • Able to interpret management & statutory accounts
  • Can present financial data clearly & accurately to non-finance people
  • Strong analytical skills, including data manipulation in systems (Cognos, Excel, Access)
  • Able to develop bespoke reports to support decision making
  • Able to build relationships outside of direct team and regularly builds during tasks/projects
  • Champions change within own team and role
  • Able to listen to alternative points of view and modify own thinking accordingly
