The Bribery Act - an opportunity for those engaged in audit work
To fight the threat of corruption within the business environment, the coalition government introduced The Bribery Act on 1st July 2011.
Under this new act the Serious Fraud Office now has the power to prosecute both individuals and companies (UK and foreign owned) for providing or receiving bribes. Companies may also have legal action brought against them for failing to prevent bribery occurring.
