| Jobs in MiFiD |
MiFID will replace the existing Investment Services Directive (ISD) which is the most significant EU Legislation for investment intermediaries and financial markets since 1995. The main areas it will impact upon are:
Investment Banks/Broker dealers
Portfolio Managers
Stock Brokers
Private Banks
Futures & Options Firms
Commodities Firms
The positions we are currently advertising vary in terms of experience and exposure to MIFID. They range from Programme and Project Managers to Business and Project Analysts. To apply for these you will ideally have a mix of front office, operations and project management skills. A mix of business and IT skills are also needed to translate the regulatory requirements into IT specifications.
Contractors who are looking to join MiFID implementation projects but do not have direct experience can still utilise their skills and knowledge from past regulatory and compliance projects. It is thought that there could be considerable poaching of Basel II staff in order to accommodate requirements on MiFID projects. Rates are looking to reflect this - contractors can expect to see their rates increase by 20% as companies compete for skilled people, with daily rates over £600 becoming commonplace.
We expect the level of recruitment in this area to increase dramatically after October 2006 as the deadline for completion is November 2007.
