Dextra Laboratories is a long established company that has gained a worldwide reputation for the supply of rare sugars, oligosaccharides, glycans, neoglycoproteins and glycoconjugates for medical research, diagnostics, food and pharmaceutical applications. The company was bought by New Zealand Pharmaceuticals in 2009 and since then NZP-Dextra has continued to develop exciting technologies across a range of therapeutic areas with our teams publishing their work and developing IP.

We have state of the art laboratories in Reading, UK and have considerable experience in the production of carbohydrates, bile acids and related products with proven experience in route scoping and development and subsequent scale up from milligram scale up to kilograms through to cGMP manufacture. The company has demonstrated its commitment to Quality through its accreditation to BSI ISO 9001:2008.

The Role:

This is a key senior hire with direct responsibility to the Finance Director, with duties and responsibilities to including the following:

  • Production of monthly management accounts on a timely and accurate basis for the two UK businesses
  • Develop management information to facilitate financial rigour in decision making
  • Responsibility for day to day accounting – cash management; AP, AR, credit control and GL management (including balance sheet and accrued income)
  • Responsible for completion and submission of monthly VAT returns, EC Sales, Intrastat and other statutory returns
  • Actively manage the annual budgeting process for the two UK businesses
  • Prepare cash flow forecasting and profit forecasts where required
  • Ownership of annual audit process for the two UK businesses including oversight of statutory accounts preparation
  • Assist in preparation of annual corporation tax returns and R&D tax claim and Patent Box application
  • Enforcement and development of financial controls as appropriate
  • Encourage financial awareness around the UK business
The Person:

We are looking for a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/ACMA equivalent) with a track record of achievement. You will be proactive in your approach to work, be an effective team player and possess excellent communication skills. The role is varied and covers a number of business management elements, please ensure you can demonstrate this experience. The remuneration package will be commensurate with skills and experience of the candidate.
