3rd Line Support Cloud Engineer - Reading

A global Professional Services firm is looking to hire a technical expert to be based out of its prestigious office in Reading.

The main remit of the role is to work across the Technology Consulting and Technology Support Service, providing technology consulting, technical project delivery and third line support to internal and external clients.


  • Work with the senior helpdesk team to manage the IT Management & Support service for the major clients
  • Keep clients informed of performance of the IT Support service as well as create and present proposals for projects and changes to improve the clients' IT infrastructure and keep it secure.
  • Conduct and/or lead hands-on IT projects on behalf of clients
  • Support the client IT helpdesk by providing third-line support tasks
  • Be a source of knowledge and information to less technically experienced staff
  • Recommend and draft or participate in the drafting of information technology and user support policies and procedures for the Service Desk
  • Maintain a broad knowledge of the systems used by the supported client base and an understanding of the client's needs to guide and assist the support the team with supporting them
  • Assist with the management of the IT Support Service
  • Act as a principal point of escalation for the Service Desk Team on all issues associated with support calls and requests

Skills & Qualifications

  • CCNA/CCNP or equivalent
  • ITIL and MCSE Certifications highly desirable
  • Hands on experience of virtualisation and cloud technologies such as Azure, Office 365 or AWS
  • Recent experience of delivering virtualisation and cloud projects
  • Prince II or other project management skills/certification would be desirable
  • Hands on knowledge of databases and scripting or other software development experience
  • Extensive daily operational service support leadership experience
  • Hands on experience of configuring firewall security infrastructures
  • Proven people management experience of a minimum of 6 direct reports
  • Extensive escalation and issue management experience at partner, director, CEO level
  • Proven Windows Server, SQL Server & Microsoft Exchange support experience
