3rd Line Support Engineer - Networking & Vitualisation

Pan-UK organisation is currently seeking an experienced 3rd Line Support Specialist with excellent networking and virtualisation skills to join their growing IT function based at their prestigious offices in Luton.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the security, capacity and availability of all data centre and corporate IT infrastructure such as hypervisors, servers, storage, network switches, as well as core services such as Internet access, remote access, email, file/print and telephony.

Responsibilities

  • Providing 3rd Line Support to all internal staff across all infrastructure services
  • Ensure that infrastructure and core services are available during agreed operating hours
  • Ensure that data and systems are backed up and can be recovered
  • Ensuring that all IT infrastructure assets are managed
  • Proactive monitoring of infrastructure and core services
  • Resolving incidents, and completing job related activity as necessary
  • Producing performance, availability and capacity reports for IT infrastructure and core services
  • Continuous service improvement
  • Input into the design and development of IT infrastructure platforms that fulfil the needs of the business
  • Provide technical delivery resources to projects
  • Maintaining the security, capacity and availability of all data centre and corporate IT infrastructure services
  • Creation and maintenance of IT infrastructure processes, and documentation

Skills Required

  • Proven and demonstrable track record in a 3rd Line Support role is a pre-requisite
  • Excellent virtualisation and networking skills are essential
  • Technical grounding in all aspects of infrastructure such as VMware, SAN technologies, WAN LAN(vlan, vtp, port security) technologies and windows
  • Good understanding of IT service management processes
  • ITIL foundation certification or above is highly desirable
  • Demonstrable understanding of the ITIL Incident, Problem, and Change processes
  • CCNA/CCNP, MCSE/MCP or VMWare certification would be desirable but not essential.
