My client, a large FinTech firm based in the City, are looking for a strong financial accountant to assist them with a large Balance sheet substantiation project for the next 6 months.


This role will have 2 main focus points.

Balance sheet Assurance:

There is an immediate need over the next two months to provide assurance over all 3000 of the balance sheet accounts due to the proposed sale of the business.

  • Ensuring All Entities / Reporting Units have a complete set of Balance Sheet Reconciliations.
  • Provide support to MA team in completing reconciliations identified as missing or incomplete.
  • Provide support to MA team in reviewing reconciliations.
  • Identify & resolve reconciliation issues with various teams.

- Reconciling items: follow up on missing information, collaborating across group.

- Provide recommended resolutions.

- Identify trending of common reconciliation issues to allow targeting of source.

  • Provide Reporting back to Working Group on;

- Current Status, Key Risk Areas, Action Plan, Support Required.

- Progress Tracking - demonstrating risk based approach to plan, effectiveness.

- Guidance - utilising risk analysis already performed, give iterative assessment of profile going forwards.

Banking Rationalisation:

Using the observations and learnings from bringing the account reconciliations up to date, the project team will review and consider how to simplify the ongoing volume of work.

The group currently maintains banking relationships with 7 different banking partners, with around 200 accounts globally across many different legal entities in many currencies. The client is looking to rationalise this setup to ascertain where accounts are still required as a first step towards streamlining of utilisation and maintenance, and ultimately lead to action reduction in accounts held.

Main tasks included within initiating this work stream (but not limited to);

  • Creating a central repository of the Group Bank Accounts; performing analysis to document;

- Structure/entity/coding/mapping/responsibilities.

- Ensure reconciliations are in place for all accounts (linked to BS Assurance).

- Follow up on reconciliation issues through to appropriate resolution - seeking appropriate authorisation where required.

- Analytical review of bank accounts, documenting for example; Accounting led: Frequency of usage, Nature of usage, Source

inputs. Regulatory led: Gathering Legal / regulatory / licencing requirement for.

  • Reporting;

- Create reporting to provide overview of current cash/reconciliation status.

- Reporting on Project status.

  • Controls;

- Working with both different business areas to refine documentation and definition of current procedures and tasks, identify weaknesses and recommending improvements.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • A qualified accountant ( ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Oracle experience advantageous.

Rate: £250 - £300pd LTD depending on experience
