Business Analyst - Process Improvement

Job Purpose: This critical role within the IT Project Management team as a Business Analyst is to maximise the benefit of REP IT systems investments by acting as a liaison between REP Business stakeholders, REP Head of Technology, IT Development, third party developers and Training teams. The successful candidate will deliver Business Analysis on projects producing benefits to REP fee earners by capturing and documenting requirements, preparation of system specifications, test scripts, and ensuring communication is maintained across the relevant teams.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in Business Analysis for projects during the discovery phase to establish and document business needs and benefits.
  • Assist Business Stakeholders and IT Business Partners in defining project objectives, scope and business justification.
  • Identify and agree analysis deliverables / format / timeframe for delivery.
  • Perform analysis using the most appropriate format for the project and project stage.
  • Document processes across the Group encompassing different business lines.
  • Elicit requirements within Waterfall or Agile methodologies; run workshops, face-to-face meetings, shadowing, process modelling.
  • Produce process maps using BPMN 2.0 notation in Visio.
  • Document functional and non-functional requirements clearly using appropriate format - BRD, FRD, Requirements Catalogue, User stories, DevOps PBIs.
  • Produce visualisations where applicable such as UML, Wireframes, ERDs, Pseudo Code and screen / dashboard designs to capture upfront feedback before changes are made.
  • Maintain traceability of requirements throughout the project lifecycle and initial support phase.
  • Manage complex and challenging stakeholders.
  • Review solution designs and provide feedback to the project team.
  • In pre-deployment undertake ad-hoc testing to ensure the requirements and functionality are met. Document any bugs found.
  • Liaise with the training team to ensure current issues are designed out and that any necessary courses or supporting material are in place and correct for project rollout to end users.
  • Attend scrum stand-ups where necessary and provide feedback to the Developers.
  • Sanity test systems against agreed specifications and iron out ambiguities.
  • Support the Quality Assurance team; provide acceptance criteria, review test scripts and system testing, close out any questions raised.
  • UAT Support - produce and review UAT scripts, run UAT sessions, input into user guides.
  • Post deployment, act as liaison and monitor system uptake and provide support to operations team / project sponsor to ensure the systems are being used as specified.
  • Carry out investigative analysis of new software and technologies when required.
  • Support any third party selection processes by providing the business requirements.

Personal profile

  • At least 2 years of recent experience performing the Business Analyst role across the full project lifecycle.
  • Strong documentation and communications skills.
  • Proactive, self-sets deadlines and actively follows up on outstanding actions.
  • A good listener but also asks probing questions to fully understand what's needed.
  • Comfortable dealing with stakeholders of all levels and external parties.
  • Willing to work when necessary, to complete projects on schedule.
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate effectively and work under pressure.
  • A logical thinker who searches for new solutions to problems or the reuse of other solutions where necessary, understanding the difference and when discretion is required.
  • A natural forward planner who critically assesses their own performance.
  • Able to assess commercial impact of project decisions, from a position of detailed understanding of corporate strategy and objectives.
  • Keen for new experience, responsibility and accountability.
  • Has an aspiration to learn new skills and develop professional skills in Business Analysis.
  • Willing to accept direction and constructive criticism.
  • Reliable, tolerant, and determined.
  • Well-presented and business like.
  • Able to get on with others and collaborates well across teams.
  • Has a good understanding of system data structures and reference data.
  • Experience of the rural sector desirable - Agriculture, Forestry, Estate Management, Energy.
  • Understanding of financials desirable.
  • Willing to travel on a weekly basis to meet with Business Stakeholders and Clients.
