The Commercial Financial Controller (NI) will play a key role in understanding the business and developing valuable insights for management to act upon. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team for the NI assets this role will be responsible for the end to end finance function, ensuring integrity of the financial information.

Responsibilities

Business Partnering

  • Providing financial support, analysis and business partnering to the senior NI business.
  • Developing cost centre manager reporting.
  • Providing accurate and up to date financial information to help inform business decisions with key stakeholders.
  • Assisting with project appraisal and costing, tracking and managing project costs

Forecasting / Budgeting

  • Working with business partners to create the annual budget and monthly reforecasts
  • Analysing variances to budget and communication with key stakeholders
  • Responsible for working capital analysis and cashflow forecasting

Financial Reporting

  • Responsible for month end close process
  • Responsible for financial accounting controls, including ensuring BS recs are complete
  • Responsible for carrying out variance analysis of performance vs budget and forecast
  • Responsible for ensuring the year end statutory accounts and audit are completed in time.
  • Responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual group reporting.

Management

Responsible for management, coaching and development of 2 finance analysts, one based in NI and one in Leeds.

Required

  • Finance qualification (e.g. CIMA, ACA, ACCA), with evidence of continuous professional development.
  • At least 5 years experience as a finance professional in a medium-sized or large-sized organisation.
  • Knowledge of accounting standards and conventions.
  • Knowledge of accounting standards and application
  • Excellent IT skills in particular MS Office software - Word, Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience of forecasting, budgeting and management reporting
  • Ability to analyse large quantities of financial information
  • Experience in the Energy sector or similar industry
  • Self motivated and able to self direct.
  • Flexible approach to high levels of change
  • Ability to influence and build relationships across multiple sites and locations
