A highly regarded real estate business based in Central London are looking for a recently qualified Business Partner to join in a commercial FP&A role supporting one of their largest portfolios.

This role provides business partnering support for Retail, including financial analysis and cost control, setting and monitoring the Retail budget, providing insight and identifying value creating initiatives, and providing challenge in order to support decision making. The role also provides analytical support for the wider FP&A and Business Partnering teams.

Role

  • Budgeting & forecasting: Support the annual budget and quarterly reforecasting cycles and provide insight and financial understanding for the Retail portfolio. Identifying areas for performance improvement and challenge to assumptions
  • Management information: Production of regular management information to allow the business to make effective decisions, prioritise actions and drive performance. Work collaboratively across teams to continuously improve the quality of MI
  • Process and system improvements: Identify and collaborate with systems specialists and the wider business to action process and system improvement projects, demonstrating a continuous-improvement mindset
  • Cost monitoring: Setting up and monitoring internal cost budgets including maintenance of capex, status of capital projects and spend vs budget for the Retail portfolio
  • Reporting: Input into the British Land Group quarterly reporting process, and Joint Venture reporting
  • Other: A range of operational responsibilities including:
    • Provide financial analysis and support on deal appraisals
    • Provide support to asset managers on key systems, e.g. Proactis
    • Liaise with Investor Relations, Tax and the wider finance team to provide input for external reports and announcements


Requirements

  • Qualified Accountant (ICAEW or equivalent) with strong technical skills and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of property specific accounting treatment
  • Able to effectively communicate, collaborate, constructively challenge and influence, at all levels both internally and externally
  • Strong modelling and analytical skills
  • Self-sufficient and able to manage a portfolio of responsibilities, prioritise and meet tight deadlines
  • Proven track record of delivering on commitments to a high level
  • Competent and efficient at dealing with manipulating data from different sources, reconciling and understanding data sets
  • Confident analysing complex transactions and summarising key takeaways
  • Ability to produce well thought through, clearly laid out and expressed schedules and papers
  • Desire and willingness to learn and improve existing processes
  • Experience of managing other team members


What next?

Due to the commercial nature of the role, property or real estate exposure is an advantage. This role will suit someone with 2 - 4 years post qualified experience from practice or industry.
