This FTSE100 Bank is looking for a qualified accountant to join their business as Finance Manager. The successful candidate will report in to the Programme Financial Controller and will be directly responsible for the day to day financial management and reporting of selected key global projects. The role will also provide financial management support to other significant change programmes when required.
Key Accountabilities
Impact on Business
- Facilitate the completion of business cases for key global programmes, and ensure approved business cases are embedded in the overall budget.
- Review existing finance reporting and governance of high value global programmes and develop plans for remediation where required.
- Ensure plans are developed with costed stages and milestones.
- Ensure reporting is general ledger driven and that ledger is maintained up to date with work done.
- Be accountable for the consolidation and delivery of monthly project MI reporting and analysis covering both the Central Project Team and overall Global Programme costs.
- Attend key leadership committees and provide decision support and business analysis for project management.
- Implement and manage an effective change control process.
- Ensure compliance with the 90 Day GSBC refresh process including version tracking and financial analysis.
- Ensure project reporting to all executive committees is consistent and fit for purpose, for both project value for money tracking and understanding the impact on the Group's profit for the year.
- Provide support and guidance with financial reporting for Regional and Global Business leads.
- Provide effective challenge on cost plans and lead cost saving initiatives.
- Ensure appropriate capitalization policy is implemented and that amortization is tracked.
- Ensure appropriate recharge policy is developed and implemented.
- Identify problems and implement solutions, making decisions based on sound rational judgment.
Skills Knowledge and Experience
- 4+ years cost reporting, budgeting and forecasting experience in a complex multinational organisation with a project costing focus of 2+ years
- Excellent interpersonal and proven leadership skills.
- Ability to develop relationships and influence senior management and colleagues.
- Effective communication skills, especially with respect to briefing stakeholders on the key performance messages.
- Top class analytical skills, able to understand complex situations, to quickly identify the key issues, opportunities, and actions required in order to provide commercial recommendations and 'insight' to business partners.
- Experience of managing resources using appropriate communication, delegation and planning skills
- Ability to inspire and develop staff, provide direction and to display excellent judgment and initiative whilst maintaining the highest work standards.
- Previous experience in MI / programme reporting and governance roles.
- An entrepreneurial attitude continually seeking ways to improve finance support and insight provided to the business.
- Professional accountancy qualification with relevant post qualification experience.
