This is an opportunity to join a leading FTSE100 listed Bank as Financial Accountant. This is an existing role within an established team in the business reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager and will offer the job holder the opportunity to join a successful team where they will be able to develop and grow within the business. The successful candidate will be required to manage multiple stakeholders. Those key to the role will be line management in Financial Reporting and Group Finance, Reports for Senior Management and financial reporting teams across the group.
Role Purpose
The purpose/focus of the role will be to:
- Interpret new financial reporting requirements including regulatory requirements and design the associated external disclosures
- Specify effective data collection mechanisms and collect complex financial information from a large network of reporting sites across reporting processes.
- Assist driving financial reporting process improvements to deliver efficiency gains.
- Implement appropriate control environment to provide assurance over consolidated financial information incl. in external publications (incl. analytical review and other appropriate procedures)
- Provide support and advice as required relating to financial reporting to finance teams throughout the Group.
Key Responsibilities
Impact on Business
- Prepare primary statements, notes and other disclosures for the Annual Report & Accounts, Interim Report and submissions to regulators.
- Prepare Monthly management information
- Prepare or review ad hoc information, reports, and presentations
- Implement new reporting requirements and controls to the Group reporting process.
Role Dimensions
- Reports generated and/or reviewed are Annual Report & Accounts, Interim Report, Group Press Release, Group Board Report, GMB Report, Group Results presentations, subsidiary Press Releases,FX1 Structural Currency Exposure Return, FINREP templates and GSIBs data.
- Be involved with the implementation of IFRS 9 for the Group (consolidated financial statements and associated disclosures, including transition). There will also be a requirement to ensure that any other areas that are linked to the financial statements are also reviewed and amended for the impact of the implementation of IFRS 9.
Operational Effectiveness & Control
- Ensure compliance with SOX
- Pro-active approach to process improvement.
- To continually reassess the operational risks inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
- To implement the Group Compliance Policy by containing compliance risk in conjunction with the relevant compliance department. The term 'compliance' embraces all relevant laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Hold a professional Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, ACMA) with appropriate PQE
- Saracen/ Hyperion experience is desirable with Strong Excel experience
- Project / Process redesign experience is desirable
- Ability to deal with and analyse unstructured problems and queries and to question and challenge existing procedures.
- Be a self-starter/motivated - ability to work with minimum supervision with attention to detail
- Ability to communicate complex financial issues confidently to line management
- Be able to work to strict deadlines, under pressure and be a team player
