A Leading Manufacturing company based near Cambridge have an exciting opportunity for a Group Project Planner. The organisation are building a centralised PMO function to oversee their group wide portfolio of capital expenditure projects (+ 100m budget). As Group Project Planner you will be responsible for leading the project planning function and for curating and implementing a robust planning framework.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain the enterprise planning framework for projects
  • Establish and lead a centre of excellence for project planning and become a trusted advisor to the organisation
  • Defining best practice for project estimating ensuring quality and accuracy are consistently achieved.
  • Prepare a work breakdown structures / roadmap to support the delivery of project objectives.
  • Oversee the development of detailed plans and earned value progress measurement for a portfolio of projects.
  • Analyse the impact of planning issues and track and monitor in the project's critical issues risk log, ensuring the risk register is updated accordingly.
  • Review project progress and analyse risks and interdependencies and probability of impact on target completion dates.
  • Report actual performance and variance against project plan and forecast outcomes.
  • Review and track contractor's statements of progress for schedule adherence and payment purposes.
  • Support Project Managers to identify options to optimise delivery through resource smoothing, resource levelling and rescheduling of activities.

Ideally you will hold a Masters or BCs degree in Engineering and have a minimum of 5 years experience in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, oil & gas or similar industries. Extensive experience working on large scale capital projects is essential as is a deep knowledge of project management and progress & risk measurement scheduling tools. Strong communication and problem solving skills are a prerequisite.
