My client is a global FTSE listed business who is looking to hire a newly created role of Head of ESG. This candidate will join a newly created function within the group, with the key objective of protecting the brand, its customers and shareholders.

This role will be responsible for

  • ESG strategic planning and implementation across the group organisation, working closely with other functions and divisions
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners who are expert in environmental, social and governance to develop best practice and refine and improve the ESG strategy
  • Establish ESG goals, milestones, metrics and governance systems
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for collecting, storing, validating and distributing ESG data and content for reporting and responding to key stakeholders
  • Project manage the annual corporate responsibility report, working closely with key stakeholders
  • Raise and maintain awareness of stakeholder requirements and ensure the ESG strategy meets these needs
  • Keep up to date with global ESG trends and tools, metrics and KPI's and share updates and ensure continuous improvement
  • Assist in the preparation of Board and senior management papers in relation to ESG
  • Provide counsel and support to the executive team in their external stakeholder engagements

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' experience in an ESG related (or similar) role with experience of creating and delivering an ESG strategy, which adds value to a commercial organisation and meets stakeholder needs. Candidates should have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships across business units to influence process or policy changes. In addition, you should have strong analytical skills and commercial acumen, ability to see the bigger picture with high energy and drive to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment, with the resilience to challenge and be challenged.
