I am currently working with the number one frozen bakery supplier in Europe. They supply an extensive range of food to Europe's biggest retailers, food service operators and wholesalers and are now looking for a Financial Controller for a 9 month role to cover for maternity leave starting in a few months time. The role reports to the Finance Director and directly managers a team of 3 juniors. The role in based near Luton so the suitable candidate will be able to get to Luton everyday and will want to start a role in a few months.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all company accounts and investments
  • Create monthly and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts
  • Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports
  • Supervise and manage financial department staff, including accountants and financial assistants
  • Motivate and lead finance team members by clarifying roles and providing helpful feedback
  • Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported
  • Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation
  • Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations
  • Develop budgets and financial plans for the company based on research and data reports
  • Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities
  • Examine all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies
  • Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations
  • Report to the FD with timely and accurate financial information
  • Assist the FD in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members.

Key Requirements

  • Qualified Accountant ideally ACA/CA with industry experience
  • Experience managing a team
  • Effective communicator with the ability to influence and challenge senior contacts
  • Strategic planning and analytical abilities
  • Proactive with keeping up to date with IFRS and statutory requirements
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
