Start your job searchOur client based in Hull is looking for a Haulage & Transport Operations specialist to manage carrier relationships. The role will be working alongside the company's Distribution Centre team to ensure all customers have an industry leading carrier experience.
Responsibilities
- You will be taking responsibility for the daily relationships with all carriers used on site.
- Managing the daily Distribution Centers and third-party carrier requirements from both an inbound and outbound perspective
- Continually monitor and enhance the customer proposition and experience
- Liaising with third party carriers, Distribution Centre and other areas of customer service daily to ensure the best customer journey
- Responsible for managing all third-party carriers using KPIs and Daily reporting.
- Experience of negotiating new and additional services with carriers and rate reviews.
- Implementing agreed operational changes and best practices for all carrier related actions within our DCs and third-party carriers.
- Ensuring that operational and contractual service levels are met and exceeded through the achievement of contractual Key Performance Indicators for all third-party carriers.
- Responsible for day to day communication and conducting regular review meetings with all third-party carriers.
- Peak preparations and execution
- To be an escalation point for operational and carrier related issues and problems effecting
- Maintaining an effective working relationship with all third-party carriers to provide an efficient and effective service.
- Identifying commercial opportunities to reduce or control third party carrier costs.
- Analysing information and evaluate data to identify issues and improvement opportunities
- Be well informed with changes and new ideas in the UK and international delivery sphere
- Ensuring the strategy and direction are always aligned to the business and brand
- Managing the carrier claims process.
- Validation, reconciliation and authorisation of carrier invoices.
- Managing a small team of Transport administrators
Requirements
- Previous experience of transport & haulage is a must. Both areas need covering.
- Ability to build relationships with key customers and stakeholders both internally and externally
- Experience in driving continuous improvement
- Navision would be a bonus
