Network Security Engineer - 6 month contract

A global energy giant is looking for a Network Security Assurance Engineer for its global firewall environments team. This will be an initial 6 month contract based out of the company's prestigious headquarters in greater south west London.

The main remit of the role is to continually assure firewall security effectiveness across the global network infrastructure. In addition the role will be contributing to the development of new technologies that ensure the attack surface of the organisation is pro-actively protected.

Responsibilities

• To act as a primary point of contact for all network security, with a focus on firewall compliance technologies
• Support other Information Security engineering teams, and to drive effectiveness and continual improvement of security technologies
• Contribute across other security technologies to complement the Information Security Engineering function
• To act as a specialist champion to further the direction and strategy of network security
• Work closely with all security stakeholders to continuously improve the Cyber and Information Security services provided

Experience

• Proven track record of network security management
• Demonstrable experience and knowledge of firewall rule management such as Paloalto, Algosec, Versa, Cisco or zscaler
• Experience of security threat feeds and security implementations
• Have an understanding of the emerging threat landscape and how to translate threats into protection
• Experience of one or more of the following would be highly desirable:
• Distributed systems/cloud computing security
• Protocols and network security
• Cryptography
• Data and application security
• User and data privacy
• Security assurance
• Scripting / programming and working with API's
