Purchasing and Finance Assistant

An amazing opportunity to join a fast moving, dynamic and welcoming team has arisen within a growing, eco friendly business!

I am looking for someone who is happy to get stuck into a hands on job, liaise with employees on site outside of the finance team and who has both purchasing and finance experience.

Your New Role

  • Overall responsibility for purchasing within the business. This largely comprises of plant and parts, consumables, security and other services.
  • Working with the Company's Finance Manager to ensure that there are adequate controls over purchasing.
  • Working with the operational team in the energy plant to communicate the desired control environment with regard to purchasing.
  • Building relationships and being the main point of contact with suppliers.
  • Creating and maintaining a master list of preferred suppliers and ensuring purchases are only made from suppliers on this list.
  • Working with the Directors and the Finance Manager to accurately budget purchasing requirements.
  • Responsibility for analysing costs and usage and feeding information back to the Directors and Finance Manager.
  • Implementing a stock / store management process to ensure that purchases are only made when required and that costs are adequately managed.
  • Responsibility for raising sales invoices.
  • Responsibility for posting sales and purchase invoices onto Sage.
  • Responsibility for sales and purchase account reconciliations, as well as petty cash and credit card reconciliations.

The IDEAL candidate will be:

  • Experienced in a commercial environment (purchasing or sales). Experience in purchasing would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Knowledge and experience of the Waste, Energy or related industries (such as engineering / manufacturing) would be an advantage.
  • Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen with ability to provide good insight to the Directors in terms of cost control.
  • A strong team player, with a hands-on approach and a willingness to be flexible
