A global commodities trader in the City is currently seeking a Senior Technical Services / Infrastructure Manager for a permanent position.
The main remit of the role will be to oversee three main areas of the IT function of the business: Application support, Desktop Support and Infrastructure.
A deep up-to-date technical knowledge is essential as this individual will oversee the Operations and management of internal and hosted server, storage, network, and business critical applications infrastructure across all global sites in line with industry best standards, internal policies and relevant regulations. Meanwhile, ensuring all business disruptive events are minimized by making sure the team provides 24x7 response and providing long-term strategy for increasing robustness of systems.
Responsibilities:
- Management of internal and hosted server, storage, network, and business critical applications infrastructure across all global sites
- Oversee Application support, Desktop Support and Infrastructure services in their entirety
- Analyse & troubleshoot systems performance, modifying parameters to improve throughput and effectively utilize system resources.
- Establishes and maintains strong collaborative relationships with internal and external strategic partners as well as critical IT infrastructure service providers
- Evaluates and provides in-depth analysis and recommendations towards the selection of Platform Operations tools
- Leads on-call production support activities by using appropriate problem-solving methods and leveraging strong infrastructure technologies expertise; servers, storage, networking, and security
- Makes highly informed recommendations to the Senior Technology Management Team for the creation of standards and/or use of new/emerging networking technologies
- Manage Vendor / 3rd party relationships by setting SLA's and service expectations, completing a regular review of service performance.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Proven track record in the design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of large, complex IP-based networks, in either a Trading or Financial Services environment
- Deep and current technical infrastructure knowledge across internal and hosted server, storage and network
- Experience working with Switching and Routing infrastructure in a large corporate setup, preferably a financial institution
- Proven ability to manage technical teams
- Experience with Network Security design and management
- Demonstrable experience and knowledge of working with customers and outside vendors, both from a design/engineering perspective as well as resolving operational issues
- Ability to quickly and systematically resolve complex technical issues which may arise from any type of hardware or software failure, misconfiguration, or human error
