Software Asset Manager - Service Manager

A global company is currently seeking a Software Asset Manager - Service Manager for an initial 3 month contract based in south west London.

The main remit of the role will be to support the wider business in defining minimum companywide software licensing standards and operating practices. This includes covering both vendor and license management.

The SAM Service Delivery Manager will provide a management information and decision support function to key stakeholder groups.

The ideal candidate will originate from the following background: IT Asset Manager, SACM Licensing Manager, Software Licencing Auditor, Software Licensing Manager roles.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining and updating the company SAM Standard and Operating Practice;
  • Formal assessment and shared service definition, gathering, interpreting, cleansing, modelling and reconciling licensing/consumption data.
  • Providing internal training, guidance and compliance assessment against this standard,
  • Defining internal central licence management services,
  • Provide licensing advisory and defining license allocation process with project teams for centrally managed license,
  • Engagement with relevant IT teams to understand and evaluate licencing requirements and offer effective licensing options,
  • Recommend/influence for effective and optimise licensing strategy to IP during contract negotiations and ensure usage measures are clear and understood
  • Provide input into annual budget, recoveries and monitor review financial spend against plan
  • Assessment of new vendors, contracts and products
  • Software Audit Coordination and Support

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of software asset management is essential
  • Experience of managing a team
  • The ability to demonstrate software Licensing knowledge especially on major publishers such as Microsoft, SAP, Oracle etc.
  • IT Asset Management, SACM Licensing Management, Software Licencing Auditor, Software Licensing Management experience preferred
  • Familiarity with ISO19770 to a level facilitating audit Commercial experience with major software vendors, including audit and compliance aspects, within a large scale global organisation.
  • Basic understanding of ITIL v3.
  • Ability to manage and influence internal 'customers', and associated shared services.
  • Familiarity with Effective License Position and vendor licensing / software audit processes.
  • Deep understanding of licensing contract metrics/criteria, practices/process for consumption discovery and reconciliation of license inventory or subscription optimisation.
  • Appreciation for data analytics
  • Exposure to cloud environments (i.e. Azure and AWS)
