Overview
A fantastic opportunity to join a Global Professional Services based in Central London. They are currently undertaking a major technology and business transformation programme including the implementation of Workday for HR, Finance and PSA. This will replace the current PeopleSoft solution and a number of satellite applications. The programme delivery commenced in May 2019 and is phased over approximately 2 years.
There is a requirement for a Senior Business Analyst to be recruited into the IT Programme Delivery Team, reporting to the Senior Business Analyst, and to be seconded full time to the Workday programme team for the phase 1 delivery which will include full HCM suite and core financials. The anticipated duration of the phase 1 delivery will be 12 months. The programme will then go on to deliver phase 2 (scheduled later 2020) and phase 3 (scheduled 2021).
Responsibilities
Workday Programme
* Integral part of the Programme Management team to support scoping, architecture, implementation and post-production support of the Workday HCM solutions
* Ensure HR functional requirements are translated, communicated and delivered
* Assist the HR team with business process re-design and close alignment to the Workday methodology
* Analyse, document and own functional gaps - tracking resolutions within the programme and against the vendor development roadmap
* Work closely with the HR Functional Lead and HR Project Manager to ensure delivery of HR design against defined requirements
* Be an escalation point for any HR stream level issues and delivery issues relating to functional areas to the Programme Management team
* Identify and raise risks, issues and critical dependencies that arise to Programme Management team
* Understand any new HR Change Requests that arise with HR Functional Lead and escalate as appropriate to the Programme Management team
* Work with the Testing Manager to coordinate the creation of test scenarios to support user and end-to-end testing of HR business processes and Workday configuration
* Work with the Project team to define Workday integration to external HR systems
* Assist teams with the validation of legacy systems data cleansing and conversion into Workday
* Support in the identification of and knowledge transfer to HR Super Users
* Assess the impacts of changing business processes and technologies in order to work with the Communications Manager and Training Manager as well as the Alight Change team to develop meaningful approaches to drive end-user understanding and adoption
* Support project in post go-live phase (4 weeks)
* Use questioning techniques to challenge requests if the scope, benefits and proposed deliverables are unclear
* Challenge business requests and processes offering alternative views to create an increase in effectiveness, identify opportunities for process innovation and where possible align with the firm's digital mindset
* Map process designs to technology designs to consider how new processes impact on existing roles and people and technology
* Develop user and functional designs to meet client requirements
* Ensure that management of proposed scope changes adheres to standard process and that impact on plans, benefits and risks are assessed and communicated
* Maintain a broad overview of organisation needs and commercial activities across related functions
* Develop understanding of the Workday solution and processes, as well as related systems and technologies, to be able to build deep subject matter expertise and knowledge of the ERP ecosystem
Business Analysis Team
* Application of the skills and accountabilities identified in the Workday programme to the delivery of IT projects when the secondment is complete
* Ability to identify and analyse alternative approaches to dealing with issues and problems
* Facilitate meetings incorporating business, technology and user groups to gather information and client requirements
* Gather data to enable understanding of business processes, related barriers, risks and client needs
* Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, translate high-level information into detailed requirements and specifications
* Act as the conduit between the business and IT teams
* Use questioning techniques to challenge requests if the scope, benefits and proposed deliverables are unclear
* Analyse and document business processes
Requirements
Knowledge and experience:
* Strong analytical and interpersonal skills required
* Significant BA experience preferred, some of it at a professional services or legal firm would be advantageous
* Specific experience is required in working on a complex, multi-phase, multi-stream programme incorporating business transformation.
* Experience of Workday HCM or similar ERP solution will be considered a significant advantage
* Experience of writing business cases across projects of varying size and complexity
* Demonstrable evidence of gathering, analysing and documenting business processes and requirements
* Understands estimating principles and process
* Demonstrate a good knowledge of IT industry trends, suppliers and products
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal including active listening
* Demonstrate confidence in dealing with all levels of the firm, including executive management levels
* Experienced in managing internal and external/3rd-Party resource partnership models
