Women at Marks Sattin: Meet Raj, recruitment specialist and leader of Women in Internal Audit Series

Author: Rajveer Sangha

Raj, you have been with Marks Sattin for 18 months, how did you originally hear about Marks Sattin and what made you want to join us?

I heard of Marks Sattin through a Rec2Rec a friend had recommended. I had come from being a finance resourcer with experience of recruiting within a 180 role and felt I wanted to explore a full 360 consultant role. I was told about Marks Sattin and really felt the next step forward for my career in recruitment was to join a great business like this. Having the chance to explore the world of Mark Sattin through the interview process and getting a chance to meet a few members of the Leeds office made me feel like I was already a part of the team. I was able to learn the potential development and growth I could have here with great access to opportunities that could help build my career with the best support provided.

How would you describe the specialist markets team and the wider culture in our Leeds office?

I would say within both the specialist markets team and the wider culture in our Leeds office we are surrounded by amazing recruiters that are passionate, hardworking, and personable. It is a great atmosphere to be around as everyone makes you want to work harder and strive to achieve your goals with the support of some great rewards and celebrations along the way to keep you motivated!

You are spearheading our latest Women in Internal Audit event series. What made you want to do this?

I have recently been in touch with a few Internal Auditors and attended networking events where it has been seen that sometimes it feels a little nerve racking for women to be able to freely speak on certain issues/topics without that hesitation kicking in. These events would be a chance to set up a community for Women in Audit across Yorkshire to come together in a space they feel comfortable to network with fellow auditors on topics they feel passionate about but also bringing people together in a fun way that feels less pressured.

The specialist markets team is growing, what advice do you have for people wanting to join the team?

If you have a passion for recruitment or a general interest in people and or the sector and want to find a role that would allow you to build on your people skills, challenge yourself and have that drive to work hard and progress then this could be for you. Joining the specialist markets team, you will be able to target a specific market and be given the chance to create your desk and make it your own!
