Spotlight Series: James Walton | Part Qualified Finance Consultant in Manchester

A big welcome to Marks Sattin - how have your first seven months been and what area of the market do you work on?

My first few months have been fantastic. I joined Marks Sattin from a competitor agency, and have now been given the freedom to work in a style that best suits me; being able to give clients and candidates more of my time, which has been very successful so far. I recruit into the part qualified permanent market, focusing on specific areas in Manchester, although I recently took an opportunity and filled a role in Madrid!

What was your background prior to financial recruitment and what prompted you to make the move into recruitment?

Before recruitment, I worked as an accountant for nine years, which I fell into straight from school. A couple of years ago I had a “quarter life crisis” about my career and turned to a few friends who worked in recruitment. They gave me valuable insight into the type of job I would be doing and I was hooked. I’ve never looked back!

What is one random fact about you?

I can play the ukulele…
