Project Manager

A global Professional Services company is currently seeking a Project Manager for a permanent position based in Central London.


The Project Manager will manage a portfolio of IT projects as agreed with the Programme Manager working with suppliers, business stakeholders and team members to scope, plan and deliver change through projects. The ideal candidate will have end to end project management experience on a variety of different projects both IT and non-IT, within a Professional Services environment or equivalent. Being able to manage projects in a standalone role as well as providing mentoring and coaching to other members of the team is required.

This includes managing issues, risks and providing the interface between IT and the business as necessary to ensure projects are successfully completed, delivering the agreed objectives, meeting the agreed success criteria and time/budget constraints set out for each project.

Responsibilities:

  • Initiates and actively manages a portfolio of projects ranging from small through to medium sized, multi-streamed projects with strategic and/or commercial impact
  • With support from the Senior Project Manager/Programme Manager, initiate and actively manage large, multi-streamed projects strategic and/or commercial impact
  • Delivers projects using an appropriate structured approach as set out within the project methodology process used within the company
  • Highlights opportunities to continually improve the Project Methodology to fit the needs and requirements of delivery to the business.
  • Initiates projects in a controlled manner clearly defining project scope, success criteria, dependencies, assumptions and constraints with stakeholders
  • Works with project teams to secure both internal and external project resources and escalates where project resourcing issues arise
  • Ensures effective communication of key issues to the department and the wider firm using non-technical language meanwhile, being able to represent IT within the firm

Skills:

* Experienced as an IT Project Manager within the professional services industry or similar with a good understanding of project management disciplines

* Extensive end to end project management experience

* Able to manage projects in a standalone capacity as well as providing mentoring and coaching to other team members is required

* Experienced in running a diverse portfolio of projects including application development, software configuration and implementation, infrastructure deployment and business change

* Qualified in an industry recognised project management discipline or accreditation e.g. Prince 2, APM or similar or can demonstrate experience in delivering projects using a structured approach

* Demonstrates strong skills to communicate, influence, negotiate and deal effectively with all levels of the IT, the Business organisation and Suppliers

* Industry knowledge - understanding of a Professional Services Industry - desirable

* Awareness of key technologies and emerging IT trends

* General commercial awareness and drive to seek value options

* Experience in assisting in tender processes and resultant supplier management
