Senior IT Contracts Manager - Birmingham

Pan-UK organisation centred on a major logistics initiative is currently looking for a Senior IT Contracts Manager to head up a new team an initial 6 month contract to be based out of its Birmingham headquarters.

Due to the nature of the client, this role is likely to fall within IR35.

The main remit of the role is to head up a new team within a corporate contracts division which is ultimately responsible for a portfolio of over 300 contracts which are mainly IT focused. The successful candidate will be setting strategies as well as leading a team, driving delivery across complex supply chains and helping senior colleagues to ensure the success of their projects right across the lifecycle.

The organisation is very heavily represented in Procurement and Category Management so this will only suit candidates that can demonstrate a heavy focus in contract management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of corporate IT contracts up to a combined value of £60M
  • Provide leadership and governance support to the relevant Project Directors, Contract Managers and Project Managers around corporate contract administration
  • Work with the Functional Project Managers and Directors to check that decisions with commercial implications receive careful consideration, that appropriate business cases are developed and commercial reporting is fully reflective of a true commercial position
  • Take the lead in the drafting of change instructions on corporate contracts
  • Manage the progress of change requests through the company's governance structure and in association with other functions
  • Liaise with project controls teams with respect to consultants' progress, spend and performance reporting
  • Develop the organisation's approach to IT Contract Management and ensure that this approach is implemented across the Information Technology function and wider organisation
  • Work to achieve value for money at each stage of the contract and develop and manage appropriate mechanisms to monitor compliance with contract terms and conditions
  • Provide leadership and give strategic direction across the IT Contract Management activities to ensure consistency of supplier management in the organisation's IT contracts

Experience

  • Significant leadership experience within a contracts management environment
  • Previous experience of managing a team - however small - is essential
  • Proven track record of supplier management
  • IT contracts management experience preferred
  • Demonstrable process improvement expertise and proof of budgetary savings through contract negotiation
  • Public Sector experience is a bonus but not essential
