Assistant Accountant

Location: Central London
Salary: £40,000-£45,000
Contract: 3-month contract (potential temp to perm)

We are recruiting an immediately available Assistant Accountant for a retail business based in Central London. This role plays an integral part in the day-to-day running of the finance function, working closely with the Operations team to support the wider retail brand.

This is a hands-on, office-based role (5 days per week) and is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing Accounts Payable, including invoice processing, payment runs and supplier reconciliations
• Supporting Accounts Receivable, including invoicing and reconciliations
• Maintaining accurate ledger postings with a strong understanding of debits and credits
• Assisting with month-end processes and balance sheet reconciliations
• Partnering with operational teams to resolve finance-related queries
• Using Xero to ensure accurate and timely financial records

Required Experience & Skills

• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role
• Strong Accounts Payable experience, with exposure to Accounts Receivable preferred
• Solid understanding of core accounting principles
• Prior experience within the retail or consumer sector
• Confident user of Xero
• Immediately available (or available at very short notice)
• Able to work 5 days per week in the office
