Marks Sattin are working exclusively with a leading FMCG Business in Leeds who are looking for a commercially focused accountant to join their lean finance team.

This is a pure commercial finance role - no month-end close or posting journals here - nor will you sit behind a spreadsheet all day building fancy models and swanky presentations - this is a true finance business partnering role interacting with non-finance commercial stakeholders daily, partnering all commercial functions of the business, with the ability to challenge and influence up to the CFO and wider leadership function.

If you have a passion for retail/FMCG (and the knowledge to back this up) then this is a hugely rewarding role with full P&L responsibility, exposure to all commercial and operational teams, covering all things commercial finance, strategy and insights.

You will analyse new ventures and strategic business cases, partner daily with the commercial teams such as buying and merchandising and provide insight to drive business performance. You will work with senior members of these teams to influence strategic direction, ensure delivery of key targets and guide planning processes - truly adding value by improving business performance.

Finally there is a unique opportunity for progression either within the commercial finance team or even moving out of finance into a commercial role if desired.

Skills needed to be successful in this role:

• Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) with PQE
• Recent experience in consumer businesses such as retail/FMCG/e-commerce
• Highly articulate - with experience influencing and challenging non-finance stakeholders
• Commercial finance skills across planning, budgeting and forecasting
• An adaptive style - able to manage relationships with stakeholders of all levels and with varying personalities and expectations
