The details

FP&A Transformation Lead | Insurance

£700-£800 per day via Umbrella | Initial 6-Month Contract | London / Hybrid (3 days WFH)

We're seeking an experienced FP&A Transformation Lead to join a major financial services organisation on an initial six-month contract, driving the development of a more scalable, efficient and insight-led expense planning function.

This is a hands-on transformation opportunity for someone who has led FP&A change initiatives within a large financial services business and enjoys working across finance, data, technology and senior stakeholders to turn new operating models into practical solutions.

This is not a traditional reporting role. The focus is on data product feeds, building and implementing a new expense planning tool, improving finance processes and strengthening stakeholder relationships across the business.

The Opportunity

You'll play a key role in shaping the future of FP&A delivery, helping to redesign how expense planning data, processes and tools work together. You'll assess existing ways of working, identify opportunities for improvement and take ownership of developing and embedding new solutions.

AI and automation will also form part of the transformation agenda, with opportunities to explore how emerging technologies can enhance efficiency, controls and the quality of financial insight.

Key Responsibilities

  • FP&A Transformation: Lead the redesign and improvement of expense planning processes, developing scalable solutions that support business needs.
  • Planning Tool Development: Get hands-on with building and implementing a new planning tool across the expense management landscape.
  • Data & Integration: Improve data product feeds, data quality and consistency to support reliable planning processes and effective decision-making.
  • Process Design: Define future-state processes, controls, ownership and governance frameworks across FP&A and Finance Business Partnering.
  • Prototyping & Implementation: Translate business requirements into practical tools and workflows, supporting testing, reconciliations, validation and implementation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships across Finance, Technology, Data and business teams to align requirements and deliver transformation outcomes.
  • Automation & AI: Identify opportunities to streamline finance activities through automation, AI-enabled solutions and more efficient workflows.
  • Operating Model Improvement: Establish standardised processes, develop clear documentation and support the transition of repeatable activities into shared service or offshore teams where appropriate.
  • Continuous Improvement: Work iteratively with delivery teams to test, refine and embed solutions that deliver sustainable improvements.

What We're Looking For

  • A qualified accountant or holder of an equivalent recognised accountancy qualification.
  • You must be immediately available to start the contract or on a short notice period (max 2 weeks).
  • Proven experience leading FP&A transformation programmes within a large financial services organisation.
  • Insurance sector experience would be advantageous, although candidates from other financial services environments will be considered.
  • Practical experience designing and implementing finance processes, planning models and target operating models.
  • A strong understanding of expense planning and the challenges associated with data feeds, planning tools and finance process integration.
  • Experience working closely with senior stakeholders and translating complex business requirements into workable solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a hands-on approach to data validation, reconciliation and testing.
  • Exposure to shared services, offshore delivery models and process standardisation.
  • An understanding of how automation and AI can be applied to improve finance operations and business partnering.
  • Oracle experience is highly desirable.
