Junior Developer - West Midlands

A top tier consumer services organisation headquartered in the Midlands is looking to hire a Junior Developer as part of a major initiative to grow and invest in its internal development function.

The main remit of the Junior Developer will be provide support to the Internal Services team in the designing, coding, modifying, and testing of desktop, web and mobile applications.

This company is also a huge commercial online multichannel retailer across web and mobile. This will be an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in these ever growing fields.

Some commercial experience is preferred, but the firm will also consider a recent IT grad / student with the right attitude and desire to attain their first rung onto the job ladder and learn.

Responsibilities

• Understanding and making changes in MS Access, Visual Studio and SSMS
• Understanding and making changes using VBA, C#.NET, VB.NET, and SQL
• Adherence with all IT policies (i.e. Document and version control code changes)
• Develop and maintain all applicable documentation as required, including user manuals, testing schedules, source code, application objects and data flows related to assigned projects
• Fix bugs and performance problems
• Complete Admin duties for the team
• Research and suggest new mobile products, applications, and protocols

Skills & Qualifications

• Recent degree / higher education qualification in a technology discipline
• Experience working in a corporate environment is welcomed but not essential
• Experience with / knowledge of C# and/or VB
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Excellent people and communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• A positive and proactive attitude to any work given
• Excellent planning and time management skills, including a willingness to "own" a problem through to resolution
• Ability to multi-task and have good time management skills
