Management Accountant - Immediately available

A leading organisation within the UK transport and infrastructure sector is seeking a Management Accountant to join its finance team. This is a broad role with exposure to multi-entity reporting, Group consolidation, forecasting and statutory compliance.

Working closely with the Financial Controller and wider Group finance teams, you will take ownership of financial reporting for a portfolio of operating and holding companies, while supporting ongoing process improvement and junior team development.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L analysis, variance commentary and performance reporting.
• Own the month-end close process for holding companies, including journals, accruals, prepayments and other accounting adjustments.
• Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations across key areas including fixed assets, payroll, debtors, creditors and control accounts.
• Produce and manage short-term cash flow forecasts, budgets and longer-term financial plans.
• Collate, validate and submit monthly financial information into the Group consolidation system.
• Support reporting requirements for operating subsidiaries, holding companies and Board-level reporting.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and support wider statutory and compliance reporting.
• Act as a key contact for external auditors, preparing supporting schedules and responding to audit queries.
• Oversee accounts payable, receivable, payment runs, bank reconciliations and intercompany billing processes.
• Work closely with subsidiary finance teams to improve the quality, consistency and timeliness of financial information.
• Liaise with Group treasury, reporting and finance teams on relevant projects and reporting requirements.
• Support and develop a Finance Assistant, providing guidance across transactional finance activities.
• Deliver ad-hoc analysis and finance projects as required.

About you

• Part-qualified, finalist or qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Strong financial accounting, management accounts and month-end close experience.
• Confident preparing balance sheet reconciliations, VAT returns and cash flow forecasts.
• Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Comfortable managing multiple priorities independently in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with auditors, senior stakeholders and Group finance teams.
• Previous experience within a multi-entity, Group reporting or consolidation environment would be advantageous.
• Experience of Microsoft Dynamics, Business Central, SAP Concur or consolidation systems would be beneficial.
