This position will report to the Galway Materials Manager. Area of responsibility will be the effective coordination of the supply planning, purchasing and production scheduling activities for products managed.

Responsibilities

  • Supply chain/procurement activities across a range of products within the Galway site portfolio, focusing on quality, cost and all aspects of supply.
  • Understanding previous selling patterns and forecasted forward demand, utilizing report systems to ensure stock levels are in line with demand and maintain minimum stock levels.
  • Constantly review and adjust stock levels to suit.
  • Responsibility for production order planning within the people and equipment capacities available while driving the wider OpEx team to continually optimize those resources to complete products on time in full within the market expected lead-times.
  • Maintain a site wide production plan by day, by week, by work centre and own the communication of that to all stakeholders.
  • Be proactive towards unforeseen demand and customer priorities adapting plans with flexibility, speed and agility.
  • Analyze and react to actual product demand, trends and forecasts balancing inventory optimisation, production efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Related and ancillary duties complementary to the core buyer planner tasks
  • SAP master data maintenance and optimisation
  • Support for new product introduction activities and Phase In / Phase Out
  • Ownership of relevant KPI's and action trackers driving performance
  • Compliance to company policy, Limits of Authority, internal & external audits
  • Engage with and maintain disciplines around the MSA Operating System
  • Continuous improvement activity through projects, project team membership and leadership and the pursuit of annual strategic objectives that drive value for the site

Experience (Required)

  • Experience in Materials Management / Logistics / Operations / or other related disciplines
  • Strong analytical experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with SAP or similar tier 1 ERP
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience at building strong work relationships / teams
  • Experience in driving change

Experience (Preferred)

  • Knowledge of SI&OP, logistics & related supply chain processes
  • Experience of inbound product transfers from other company sites
  • ERP system 'super user' background

Education

  • APICS, CIPS or other related certification
  • Courses completed in Lean manufacturing, 6 sigma, continuous improvement philosophy
