Start your job searchOver the last 10 years, the founders and senior management team have built out a high-class finance function with 10 employees and are now looking to recruit a new FD to take on the next stage of the business's growth in the UK and Ireland. The FD will be responsible for the day to day management of the finance function and team as well as working alongside the senior executive team to formulate and strategize continued growth with direct reporting lines into the Board. You will also work closely with your peers across the globe to formulate best in class practices.
The FD will direct the company's finance function, undertaking all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, tax, legal compliance, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, treasury as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities:
Development Companies - involvement in the development phase of each asset. This involves the accounting and financial reporting activities for each of the relevant JVs (PropCo) providing financial reporting for investors and senior lenders.
Management Company - the business provides development and property management functions to each of their assets. This involves accounting, financial reporting and budgeting for the Global Management Team and Board.
- Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements including board papers and IC memos
- Treasury management including liaising with senior banks and debt holders
- Oversee the processing of payroll, month-end reporting, reconciliations and accounts payable and general office administration and function
- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory / compliance reporting
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance
- Support month-end and year-end close process for all JV structures ('Prop Co')
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Manage and comply with all tax filings
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls and reporting to Investors
- Implementing new systems and processes into the organisation
- Maintenance of the financial ledgers and accounting processes
- Cash management and cash flow preparation
- Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, bankers and directors
- Conducting financial analysis to identify the efficiency and effectiveness of business activities
- Preparation of budgets and cash flow forecasts for new acquisitions
- Analysis of monthly P&L and Balance sheet reports at an individual asset SPV level and at a consolidated level (development and operating phase of assets)
- Analyse and update the current banking facilities schedule of JVCo (Prop Co), and schedule the due interest repayments
- Analyse & calculate the monthly cash flow of the management company, to determine the current financial position of the organisation and the material impacts on the current cash flow.
- Co-ordinate with the banks to ensure full compliance of debt facility agreements and negotiate new facility agreement
- Responsibility for corporate structure and working with tax advisors and legal advisors to optimise tax and financial position
- Control and sign off of all capital projections and capital calls to JV
- Work alongside the development management team on all screening papers and IC papers
- Participate in the due diligence process relating to potential acquisitions and subsequent deal negotiation
- Lead in the negotiation of commercial agreements, particularly once the properties are operational
- Development of lifecycle budgets and the monitoring of expenditure
- Preparation of board reports
- Provide leadership in the continual improvement process of our service
- Develop strategies around processes, systems and IP collection
In terms of background we're looking to speak to experienced Heads of Finance, FDs or CFOs or equivalent who are a qualified accountant (CA) with proven credentials in a senior leadership role working at board level in real estate industry ideally from a real estate investor, developer, or operator (hospitality) although all profiles will be considered. It's vital that you can hit the ground running in this appointment with a blend of core finance as well as commercial experience as well as having an advanced understanding of property financial, legal and development issues surrounding major property investments.
Superb communication skills, able to add value as both an individual contributor and active team member. Strong leadership, team management and ability to motivate and achieve high levels of performance from project teams and colleagues is also essential. We are looking for someone that shares the same level of enthusiasm as the founders and executive team as well as being culturally adaptable and not afraid to challenge the status quo.
