Start your job searchA leading private equity fund has a newly created role aligned to their real estate debt lending business. They have already completed several impressive deals and have a strong pipeline so an excellent time to join a business in the early stage of it's growth and be part of building the business.
They have reached a stage where they are looking for an experienced Financial Controller from a real estate or private equity debt fund or lending investor to run the finance function but also grow a team underneath them in q3. The view is this person will become the Finance Director in a year time (if not sooner).
The role will manage all financial aspects of for the business and the processes and operations of the lending structures. Also, the role will be expected to be an active contributor to both the planning and implementation of the growth initiatives of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the achievement of the company's business objectives by providing advice and guidance on financial aspects.
- Manage the lending structures:
- Management and responsibility for loan initiations, warehousing, note issuances, full & partial redemptions and cash management to tight deadlines.
- Overseeing monthly IPD, liaising with external service providers and supporting the operations team.
- Management of third-party service providers.
- Responsible for ensuring ongoing tax compliance of securitization structures.
- Responsible for financial reporting aspects of structures including reviewing of third-party financial statements and preparation of financial reporting for related entities.
- Monitoring of covenants and periodic testing / reporting
- Responsible for cash management & forecasting.
- Production of management, FCA, ESMA and listing reporting & information.
- Ensuring all documents are completed and delivered to relevant parties on time with respect to all loans originated
- Liaison with funding providers where necessary
- Financial management and control of the business:
- Oversee the preparation of the financial accounts and management information to ensure that these are presented accurately and on time.
- Develop and maintain all necessary systems, policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient financial management.
- Develop and control the annual operating budget to ensure that all financial targets are met and financial and statutory regulations complied with.
- Provision of financial information for parent consolidation and management reporting.
- Control of the year-end audit process within a strict timeframe and preparation of annual financial statements.
- Responsible for all tax compliance (including VAT, Corporation Tax).
- Developing a close working relationship with all relevant parties required to deliver timely accurate service.
- Providing ad-hoc support leading to an awareness of the commercial and accounting impact of key decisions.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (7+ years) and have strong analytical, numerical and IT skills alongside excellent knowledge of UK GAAP. They must be able to work to independently to tight deadlines. Experience of working with securitization structure is preferred.
- Strong academic background with a professional accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA - 7years + PQE).
- Must be ambitious and motivated - both individually, for the team and business as a
- Experience of working for a real estate debt, lending, or private equity debt fund.
- Must be proactive and have experience of working to tight deadlines, striving to improve processes, efficiencies and accurately still maintaining an attention to detail.
- Excellent technical knowledge of FRS102 and IFRS and ability to demonstrate staying up to date on changes in standards.
- Knowledge & experience of securitization structures beneficial.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a growing, dynamic and high-performing
- Strong IT skill
- Strong aptitude for numbers
- Good communication and interpersonal skill
