Start your job searchOne of the largest professional services firms in the UK is looking for a highly experienced professional to join their IT team as a Solutions Designer.
The purpose of this role in the Digital & Innovation division is to take the lead with designing, planning and building solutions for digital business transformation in collaboration with the Business Relationship Manager (BRM) team and the business.
Some of these solutions will be derived from the innovation ideas that are being generated within the business. Working closely with both the architects and BRM's it is key to ensure new solutions both address the business problem or idea while adhering to our architectural design and strategic direction. This role reports into the Technology and Innovation Manager.
In order to accelerate time to market, the role will utilise approaches such as buy before build and a rapid and agile methodology. Using both minimum viable product and iterative principals the role is responsible in delivering solutions at speed into the business, using a 'cloud first' strategy.
The individual must be both technically proficient and solution focused, finding coherent and strategic approaches to complex business challenges or new opportunities in line with digital ambitions.
You should have a track record of innovation and be able to demonstrate examples of using creativity and technical knowledge to achieve successful business outcomes through an engaging and consultative approach.
An ideal candidate should have a passion for 'client side' frontend applications, have excellent communication skills, acquires the ability to translate technical requirements and produce proof of concepts.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading the design, code and testing of applications utilising an agile and MVP approach
- Demonstrate creative flair in solution proposal and the ability to pay attention to detail in design and delivery.
- Lead the design of the applications including recognised best practice in agile development.
- Work with the development team on building solutions
- Understand and include different types of devices, considering constraints of hardware, operating systems or browsers for the solutions
- Contribute and adhere to technical and service governance standards whilst building and maintaining solutions
- Adhere to change processes and produce high quality technical documentation
- Ensure that the appropriate project and technical documentation are completed and kept up to date
Skills
- Have the ability to prototype and demonstrate using recognised tools and technologies. A strong understanding of the Microsoft development stack would be advantageous - e.g. .net, SharePoint, Azure
- Experience of software development methodologies and design techniques e.g. UML, Agile
- Exceptional verbal and written communication, including presentation skills. Able to communicate to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation and 3rd parties.
- Excellent understanding of application integration at the various levels application, application interface or data layer.
- Experience in building Minimal Viable Products (MVP) and being able to demonstrate back to stakeholders.
- A good understanding of the importance of User Experience methodology in the design and development of digital products.
