My client is a leading International organisation based in Sheffield currently recruiting for a Corporate Tax Manager. You will have responsibility for UK tax computations and tax reporting of UK group taking day-to-day ownership of UK corporate tax compliance and tax accounting. The successful candidate will provide high quality advice on corporation tax issues which is relevant, practical and consistent with the needs of internal customers and other stakeholders.

A major part of this role is to help minimize the Group's UK corporation tax costs in accordance with the group's tax principles

Key Duties:

  • Calculate tax provisions for group and individual company accounts under UK GAAP & IFRS.
  • Maintain and develop the model which handles group's current and deferred tax provisions.
  • Liaise with external auditors and overseas subsidiaries' accounts staff.
  • Prepare tax computations and returns for UK companies including close liaison with the Capital Allowances manager and shared service centre teams.
  • Liaise with joint ventures and associates to secure payment for tax losses.
  • Provide corporation tax input (including deferred tax calculations) to forecasts and strategic plans including the generation of presentations for senior stakeholders including the CFO and the auditors as appropriate
  • Deal with HMRC in meetings and correspondence, negotiating and answering queries.
  • Provision of training and guidance to staff at various levels.
  • Keep abreast of developments in tax legislation, case law and practice, maintain and update the group's processes in relation to its tax compliance obligations
  • Keep appraised of the group's accounting policies and the accounting regulatory environment implementing any changes as they affect tax.

Experience Required:

  • ACA and/or CTA.
  • Extensive commercial tax compliance experience.
  • Likely to have a big firm background.
  • Highly numerate with extensive experience of working with large Excel tax models.
  • Good communicator, able to work with senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent negotiating and literacy skills.
  • Able to deal effectively with complexity and ambiguity; resilient.
  • Have a commercial approach to tax matters and be capable of providing clear advice and direction to colleagues.
