My client is a well-established and market leading Investment Manager based in London.

They are looking for a VP within their tax advisory team to join the business ASAP on a contract basis for an initial 6 month period. This is an in-house advisory role with strong exposure to the businesses Alternative investment strategies. The successful candidate will be responsible for covering fund of funds (PE & HF), direct hedge funds and direct lending.

Main duties include will include but are not limited to:

  • Providing hands-on tax support to the Alternatives business areas in Europe.
  • Responsibility for new product launch tax work and ongoing tax oversight for the fund ranges and vehicles associated with those businesses.
  • Oversight of tax due diligence on selected investments to be held by the funds.
  • Development of robust tax-related processes and procedures and maintain oversight of the tax operational processes that are necessary to support each fund.
  • Answer investor queries related to the taxation of the products associated with the Alternatives business areas.
  • Working with the wider EMEA Product Tax team.

Essential candidate requirements:

  • A professional tax / legal qualification.
  • Experience working with Alternatives asset management tax (5 years+).
  • Understanding of the fund and SPV structures used in Europe for alternative investments. In particular, the use of Irish and Luxembourg SPVs.
  • Knowledge of European investor tax reporting regimes.
  • Substantial experience advising fund management firms, and ideally their clients, in person.
  • An appreciation of the corporate tax, transfer pricing and VAT issues faced by investment funds. In particular, those VAT issues faced within fund structures.
  • Experience working in-house at a fund management business is advantageous.
