We hosted an Employment Law Roundtable on mental health at work at our offices in London. The participants were senior human resource practitioners from a range of businesses and sectors. The event was co-hosted by Seddons Solicitors and chaired by Helen Crossland, a Partner and Head of Employment Law at Seddons, who shared her professional expertise. We decided to discuss this topic as the practitioners from Seddons had seen a noticeable increase in the number of mental health related cases from their clients in the last few years. We collectively believe that this increase is a positive sign of heightened awareness of mental health, representing an effort to remove the stigma and put mental health on the same platform as physical health. The aim of this roundtable was to share insights and knowledge around dealing with physical and mental health at work. Specifically the conversation covered: • Statistics on mental health at work • How to manage mental health issues at work • Occupational Health referrals • The Equality Act 2010 • Reasonable adjustments Download our whitepaper which aims to capture and distil the key points from this discussion.

We recently held a networking event for our senior finance clients at Charlotte Tilbury in Covent Garden. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed this small intimate event and we received an overwhelming number of responses and positive feedback. The evening started with a masterclass from their top makeup artists who have worked alongside Charlotte Tilbury herself! This was followed by a makeup demonstration where one of our lucky clients got the chance to be the model, showing off a range of new and exciting products in day and evening looks. The evening ended with everyone networking over prosecco, cake and a personalised mini master class where our clients were treated to a voucher they could spend on any products they liked from the evening! We would like to thank everyone who attended and we look forward to the next one! If you are interested in attending our next event then please get in contact with either Joanne.Leake@markssattin.com, Ella.Solomon@markssattin.com or Hannah.Spears@markssattin.com. The Commerce and Industry team cover all finance roles ranging from part qualified up to executive level within specific industries such as retail, FMCG, hospitality and media and technology. Hannah Spears | Manager Tell us about what area you cover and how long you have been with Marks Sattin? I joined Marks Sattin in January 2015 and have just had my three year work anniversary! I started at Marks Sattin as a graduate, recruiting on the part-qualified perm desk for commerce and industry and I’ve worked my way up to a management position. I recruit for what we call the “softer markets”, with a strong focus on retail, media and FMCG. What is the most challenging aspect of your market? There is always a high volume of roles at lower levels which is good as the market always feels fairly busy, but at the same time it’s challenging because it means candidates have so much choice and it’s a lot more competitive. We always ensure we keep regular contact with candidates to generate repeat business and to ensure they come back to us when looking for another new role. What has been the highlight of working at Marks Sattin? There have been a lot of of highlights over the years! Promotions being one, client wins and repeat business being another and of course the people I work with! There’s always fun events to look forward to and the rewards are great when you do well. A random fact about you? I can lick my elbow!
