About the Role
My reneable energy client are seeking a Business Continuity Specialist to join on a short-term basis. This role is critical in strengthening our resilience and readiness across a project-based electrical engineering business operating in multiple sectors, including Defence, with manufacturing sites and remote locations across the UK.
You will take ownership of developing fit-for-purpose Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and Emergency Contingency Plans (ECP) tailored to our operational environment. Working closely with stakeholders across Engineering, Manufacturing, Facilities, IT, and leadership, you will ensure compliance, preparedness, and robust response strategies for potential disruptions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and write comprehensive BCP and ECP aligned with industry standards (ISO 22301).
- Conduct Business Impact Assessments (BIAs) and define recovery priorities.
- Design continuity strategies safeguarding critical operations and engineering workflows.
- Create emergency response plans for scenarios such as fire, utility failure, and hazardous events.
- Coordinate drills, validate plans, and integrate health & safety protocols.
- Engage with cross-functional teams and support live incidents or simulations.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience developing BCP/ECP documentation in complex operational environments.
- Strong understanding of business continuity, crisis response, and emergency planning.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with technical and leadership teams.
- Familiarity with ISO 22301 or equivalent standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: CBCI, CBCP, or Emergency Management.
- Background in operations, engineering, risk, or health & safety.
- Experience in sectors such as utilities, infrastructure, manufacturing, or Defence.
