Group Head of Compliance - Sanctions (3-Month Contract)

  • Location: London (Hybrid - 4 days office / 1 day WFH)
  • Contract: Initial 3 months with potential for extensions.
  • Rate: £400-£600 per day via umbrella (dependant on experience)



A leading global fintech payments business is seeking an experienced Group Head of Compliance - Sanctions to lead its global sanctions and export controls framework during an exciting period of growth.

Candidates must be immediately available or on a maximum 2-week notice period. Relevant sanctions experience within the financial services sector is essential (ideally within payments, fintech, banking, FX, correspondent banking, or trade finance).



The Role

  • Lead and enhance the global sanctions and export controls compliance framework across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Provide strategic oversight and expert guidance on complex sanctions, export controls, and cross-border payment activity.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for high-risk customers, transactions, and trade finance cases.
  • Ensure compliance with global sanctions regimes including OFAC, OFSI, EU, and UN regulations.
  • Partner with senior leadership, regulators, and key stakeholders, providing regular reporting and strategic advice.
  • Lead and develop a global compliance team while driving continuous improvement across controls, screening, and governance.



About You

  • You must be immediately available to start the contract or on a short notice period (max 2 weeks).
  • 10+ Years of experience leading sanctions compliance within the financial services sector (preferably Fintech, Payments, FX or Banking).
  • Extensive knowledge of global sanctions regimes and export control regulations.
  • Strong stakeholder management, decision-making, and communication skills.
