Marks Sattin is proud to partner with a large multi-site brand based in the Coventry/Warwickshire region to recruit a Commercial Financial Controller on a permanent basis.
This is a newly created position, driven by organisational growth and further expansion plans, reporting directly to the Director of Commercial Finance. The Commercial Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in driving customer growth and the profitability strategy across the stores/branches.
Given the commercial nature of the role and the focus on increasing store profitability, the role requires travel to the various UK stores/branches on average two days per week. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced business partner who thrives on building meaningful relationships across all levels of a business.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with Regional Directors to support the delivery of customer growth and store profitability strategies.
- Partner with Store/Branch Managers to review key KPIs and identify reasons for variances in sales.
- Actively review and challenge sales and margin performance during senior leadership reviews.
- Work with senior stakeholders, including Regional Directors, Commercial, and Marketing teams, to analyse and improve pricing strategies.
- Translate data analysis into actionable profit-making opportunities.
- Provide decision support by creating financial models and conducting insightful analysis to guide senior leadership decisions.
- Track key regional initiatives aimed at driving EBITDA growth.
- Challenge existing processes and propose improvements for greater efficiency.
- Conduct FP&A activities, including owning the budgeting and forecasting process, and performing variance analysis.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
- Proven experience in a commercially focused business partnering role within a fast-paced organisation.
- Willingness to travel to stores/branches an average of two days per week.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills, capable of presenting and communicating commercial insights.
- Proficient in Excel, with expertise in creating robust financial models.
- A results-oriented problem solver with an inquisitive mindset and a passion for making a difference.
