A leading European retail business is looking for a Financial Accountant to join their team on a permanent business in Bingley.

This role is best suited to someone who has a background in retail or a business where they are dealing with low value, high volume transactions.

Duties of the role:

• Effective cross functional collaboration - Form an effective working relationship with the other Financial Accountant in the finance department, along with those other colleagues within the department.
• Supporting the Financial Controller in ensuring that robust financial systems, procedures and processes are maintained and that the financial controls in place are fit for purpose with respect to your area of responsibilities.
• Work with group colleagues and external auditors to validate and/or improve financial control systems.
• Assist in implementation of a new, automated order-to-cash process.
• A key part of ensuring that the monthly (4/4/5 weekly periods) close and business reporting process meet the required UK and group deadlines, including submission of certain reporting.
• Ensure the delivery of reliable and consistent management and financial reporting, reviewing/performing the completion of balance sheet reconciliations alongside preparation of sales reporting.
• Supporting the delivery of the half year and full year group and statutory reporting requirements, ensuring that accounting policies and procedures are effectively implemented and further developed (where required to comply with relevant UK accounting standards and Group financial policies).
• Support the engagement with group finance colleagues and external auditors.
• Support the day-to-day processes around cash and treasury management, including the production and maintenance of a rolling cash flow forecast.
• Work with the Financial Controller to identify improvements to working practices around cash and treasury management and assist in implementation of changes, such as the above mentioned automated order-to-cash process.
• Support the delivery of VAT and Corporation tax compliance, working with the Financial Controller and external tax advisors to ensure liabilities are minimised and that financial and tax computation reporting deadlines are met.
• Become first preparer on VAT returns and Corporation Tax returns.
• Assist in transforming tax compliance to efficient automated processes that comply with regulatory requirements (such as VAT "Making Tax Digital").

This role is best suited to someone who is AAT qualified looking to start their further studies or part/newly qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA, but all levels of candidates must have relevant experience in technical accounting.

Salary: Up to £47,000
