Senior Financial Reporting Accountant (6-10 Months Contract)

Day Rate: £450-£500 per day (via Umbrella)
Location: South-West London
Working Pattern: Hybrid

Company Overview

A well-established Bank specialising in asset finance is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Reporting Accountant to support the finance team on an interim basis for an immediate start. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong technical accounting knowledge and a background in banking.

Role Summary

The successful candidate will take ownership of statutory financial reporting/external reporting, consolidated accounts, technical accounting matters, and audit deliverables for the group. You will work closely with the internal finance team and external auditors to deliver high-quality, accurate reporting to tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare consolidated statutory financial statements in line with IFRS and UK GAAP.
  • Lead on the year-end audit process, coordinating requirements, preparing schedules, and managing auditor queries.
  • Produce supporting documentation including audit samples, reconciliations, and working papers.
  • Prepare corporation tax workings and liaise with tax advisors where required.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, reporting policies, and timetables.
  • Provide technical accounting advice for complex or judgemental areas.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Candidate Requirements

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA).
  • Demonstrable experience in financial accounting/external reporting within the banking sector.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP, with the ability to interpret and apply standards confidently.
  • Proven track record preparing consolidated statutory accounts.
  • Experience leading statutory audits and working directly with auditors.
  • Strong Excel capability including SUMIFS, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and data manipulation.
