We have been exclusively retained to support a leading and pioneering Global Banking Group in their search for a Director level Head of Accounting Policy and Advisory. This well known organisation is urgently seeking a suitable individual to carve out a clear and distinct role that would cover everything in the Accounting Policy, Advisory, Change and Developments world from a Group perspective. This is a high profile leadership role with significant opportunity to create and develop a best in class function as well as act as the external face of the Bank with relevant industry bodies and forums.

Responsibilities will include:

- Owning and managing the group accounting policy framework.
- Driving consistency in accounting policy implementation across multiple product groups and markets.
- Subject matter expert and key spokesperson of the Bank's interpretation and response to changes in policy.
- Developing productive relationships with colleagues across front, middle and back office to ensure best adoption of new policy and/or changes. This will include regular interaction with MD level stakeholders.
- Project lead on IFRS 9.
- Working with Investor Relations to ensure key changes are appropriately communicated to investors and/or shareholders.
- Supporting the business with new product development and structuring.
- Providing technical advice and guidance around year end disclosures and results.
- Taking a lead role as the Bank's Ambassador in the wider Policy community, including an expectation that you'll contribute and participate in thought leadership, forums and membership groups.
- Building and developing a high quality Accounting Policy & Advisory team including all day to day management, mentoring and coaching.

Your background:

- Director or 'Head of level' within the Accounting Policy function of a Bank OR Director level within the Technical Accounting Practice in one of the Big 4 or equivalent.
- Strong track record of success and progression in your career with clear evidence of having led a Policy team.
- Exceptional technical accounting knowledge and understanding of Banking Markets and Products.
- An established network within the Accounting Policy community.
- Adept stakeholder management skills; accustomed to operating at MD/CEO level.
