Job Title: Interim Assistant Accountant

Location: Leicester

Rate: £190 - £220 (Umbrella)

Duration: 6 months

Start: ASAP

About the Role:

An established organisation in Leicester is seeking an Interim Assistant Accountant to support its finance team during a busy period. This is a hands‑on role ideal for someone with strong core accounting skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while contributing to a high‑performing finance function.

You'll play a key part in month‑end close, reconciliations, and payments processing across multiple entities, while also helping to identify improvements in processes and controls.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support month‑end close activities as the team works toward Last Calendar Day +3 deadlines
• Prepare and post journal entries
• Perform account reconciliations and ensure accuracy across key balance sheet areas
• Provide general accounting support throughout the close cycle
• Interpret and apply relevant Enterprise Standards, SOPs, and Process Maps
• Identify weaknesses in processes and recommend improvements
• Provide payments support, including:
• Processing payments across 25 bank accounts and 7 legal entities
• Assisting with misdirected payments and other banking‑related queries from HQ
  
  

To be considered you will:

• Be AAT Qualified, ACCA/CIMA Part Qualified, or Qualified by Experience
• Have proven experience in a similar role
• Have strong written and verbal communication
• Be confident working independently and taking ownership of tasks
• Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with stakeholders across the business
• Be an excellent problem solver with good attention to detail
• Be able to start at short notice
