About the Role

My client are seeking an experienced Workday Functional Consultant with strong solution architecture capabilities to support a major HR systems transformation. The organisation has an existing Workday implementation that was heavily customised and poorly adopted across the business. New trajectory is to standardise processes and best practices, requiring significant system changes and optimisation.

This role will involve both strategic advisory and hands-on configuration, making it ideal for someone who can operate at a high level while also delivering practical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess the current Workday configuration and identify areas for simplification and alignment with standard functionality.
• Manage and deliver a backlog of approximately 100 defects and change requests.
• Determine whether issues require workarounds or deeper configuration changes.
• Collaborate with a highly capable HR team to improve system usage and adoption.
• Partner with external Workday implementation partner as needed.
• Work closely with the HR leadership team and fractional CIO to define priorities and carve out time for planning.
• Provide expert advice on Workday HR modules and ensure compliance with best practices.
• Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring clarity and alignment.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Workday Functional Consultant or Solution Architect.
• Strong knowledge of Workday HR modules and appropriate certifications.
• Ability to handle both strategic discussions and hands-on configuration.
• Experience managing large volumes of small changes and defect resolution.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a just do it mindset
