A growing real estate fund with ambitious plans for the year ahead seeks to hire a CFO to head up a recently acquired complex real estate base operating business.
The successful candidate will have an extensive background in the real estate sector and a current CFO or senior member of a finance team, already familiar with all tasks required by a CFO role and have an in-depth understanding of working in a top-level financial role for a real estate backed operating business. You will need to demonstrate strong debt/mezzanine finance, stategy and tax.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Provide strategic oversight over the financial affairs of the company
- Maintain the optimal capital structure for the company through providing creative solutions for the future capitalisation of the business in regards to the levels and nature of debt financing utilised
- With the assistance of the PE parent, implement the optimal balance sheet structure in regards to assets, debt and equity and other liabilities
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all lenders and financial partners
- Ensure compliance with all terms of the existing debt financing and develop an intimate understanding of any restrictions placed by it on the company
- Organise and oversee the cash management of the company, including the invoicing to clients, payments to suppliers, lenders and shareholders and optimise the cash management and flow of funds through the business
- Identify and help to utilise ways to optimise the corporate structure in order to allow the company to function efficiently and in a return maximising fashion
- Control accounting for auditing and tax purposes, insuring full compliance with the relevant filing rules and tax codes, with an eye on positioning the company in the best possible way
- Oversee and drive to optimise the tax position and compliance track record
- Produce management accounts that provides an optimal tool for management and use the insights generated in this work to drive forcefully for improvements in management practise, generating revenues and minimising waste
- Manage the budgeting process and analyse the capital spending
- Use the insights generated during work to push for increased efficiency, rationalisation and the optimal use of resources. The candidate will proactively seek ways to make a better and more profitable business, positioned optimally for a successful future
- Oversee the effective risk management and implement an insurance strategy for all assets protecting it appropriately from possible risks
- Prepare company board materials in advance of meetings and provide briefing papers and analysis of key decisions to other board representatives, crystallising key financial issues and opportunities for the business
- Identify issues emerging in relation the financial affairs and develop appropriate solutions
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with the shareholders and asset managers, assisting them in their corporate governance and management and providing them with detailed financial and operational information required in their work
- Oversee the production of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting
- Serve on the board of various entities, serve as a secretary to such boards as appropriate and handle all relations with and filings with Companies House or equivalent bodies
Qualifications:
- You must have extensive experience working in CFO or FD/Head of Finance role in real estate
- Very hands on and willing to roll up his/her sleeves.
- Who will lead their team
- Who can lead strategic objectives and debt restructuring/tax optimisation.
