Commercial Finance Manager - George.com

The GM & Clothing finance team business partner the trading function to provide commercial analysis and support to maximise business performance.

The vacancy is to support the George.com team providing commercial finance support. George.com remains Asda's fastest growing arm of the business and increasingly plays a pivotal role within Asda's £4bn clothing & general merchandise operation. You will be working within a fast paced & dynamic environment, managing a wide network of commercial & operational stakeholders to continue the delivery of market leading commercial growth and a sustainable economic model.

You will business partner the George.com Senior Director and be a key part of their leadership team. You will manage a full P&L from sales & GP, through costs such as picking, delivery, webhosting, marketing & store costs.

You will be responsible for understanding and driving improvements in the commercial performance, stimulating strategic decision making, driving financial discipline, processes and accountability and supporting in delivery of one of the key business priorities: Leading Online, as well as the online elements of all other strategic pillars.

The main responsibilities include:

  • Driving delivery of the 2017 plan in partnership with the key leadership, challenging where appropriate to ensure that targets are met.
  • Providing guidance to help mitigate risks and capitalise on opportunities
  • Interpreting and communicating trends within financial data
  • Identifying opportunities to improve sales/profitability
  • Strengthen performance management across the George.com P&L through improved forecast accuracy & planning
  • Cost reduction - Work with the business to deliver reductions in stock loss & jobbing costs, international benefits and improved range mix to drive business unit profitability.
  • Support cross functional working between store ops, logistics, trading & George.com teams to drive greater forecast alignment and accountability to drive performance.
  • Collaborative working across finance to obtain key data and drive results
