Application Support Specialist- Renewable Energy - 1 Year Contract
This role supports the administration, coordination, and continuous improvement of renewable energy connection processes within a national electricity distribution organisation.
You will manage and process applications from renewable energy generators seeking connection to the distribution network. The role involves daily engagement with customers, internal teams, and external stakeholders, ensuring applications are progressed efficiently and queries are resolved professionally.
The position supports process improvements, system enhancements, and ongoing refinements to long-term operational procedures related to generator connections.
Prior knowledge of renewable energy regulations and distribution network connection policies is important to effectively support customers and ensure compliance with relevant frameworks.
Key Responsibilities

  • Process a high volume of renewable generator applications from submission through to final network connection
  • Support team members in handling customer applications efficiently and accurately
  • Act as a point of contact for customers and key stakeholders, addressing queries and resolving issues
  • Proactively respond to energy-related enquiries across business functions
  • Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date public information related to renewable connections
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects aimed at improving processes and systems
  • Support implementation of generator connection policies and regulatory requirements
  • Build strong working relationships across internal departments to promote best practices, end-to-end connection processes

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential:

  • General understanding of electricity networks and renewable generation technologies sufficient to liaise with customers and technical teams
  • Experience in a professional environment dealing with external and internal stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP systems
  • Demonstrable experience managing high volumes of work accurately and meeting deadlines
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently to resolve issues and improve processes
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate within a team and support colleagues
  • Third-level qualification or equivalent professional experience

Desirable:

  • Experience in renewable energy installations or grid connection processes
  • Exposure to stakeholders within the electricity or energy sector

This is a 12-month contract, compensated by a competitive day-rate.
