This is a unique opportunity to join a global alternative asset manager as their Head of Loan Closing Operations. Former loan/debt closing experience with regards to bank debt is essential.

The company is circa 300 strong globally with 80 in the London office. They have a culture that is reflective of a family business; they're incredibly progressive with work/life balance. It is Director level position and is responsible for providing substantial investment support across multiple business lines including Mortgage Credit, Private Debt and Bank Debt. The position reports into the MD in New York and has a team of 4 that will grow with time. It will work closely with the investment teams in London primarily but have oversight with a global context. The role is broad and spans: Investment, Legal, Tax, Operations and Accounting, globally, all with a focus on loan closing. The role manages a small international team that will focus on pre and post closing activities across several products in particular (bank debt, trade claims, and other non-depository document investments). It's an ideal role for either an operations, accountant or product control professional who has had operations experience from within an asset management firm focusing on the loan closing process.

Responsibilities include:

Transaction Closing

  • Coordinate investment closings and related operational components of loan trades, including legal documentation, finance, structuring, and treasury functions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external resources (brokers, councils etc)

Investment Management

  • Monitor deal compliance including performance covenants, senior finance covenants, cash flow projections and financial reporting.
  • Understand, translate, and assist in properly reflecting reorgs in portfolio management system and provide necessary information to Fund Accounting. Engage Tax to discover/highlight book/tax differences.
  • Manage reconciliation process for loan products.
  • Analyze P&L for bank loan and other OTC instruments for reasonableness; work with traders to resolve unusual items.
  • Liaise closely with Legal, Accounting, Risk and Treasury to ensure proper treatment for non-DTC eligible instruments.
  • Respond/complete/file corporate actions and claim filings as necessary.
  • Security master setup and maintenance of bank debt and claim security types.
  • Implement new policies, procedures, and internal controls as business invests in new assets or new geographies.
  • Participate in periodic audits (internal and external).
